If I do give up fabric as unusable, it's usually because of the quality or fiber content. Some stuff just shouldn't go into a quilt.
I've passed along one piece that came in a grab bag of brand new fat quarters because it was so unbelievably ugly I couldn't deal with it. (It was also quilt shop quality and from a current collection, so I mailed it to another quilter who wanted it for one of her own projects.) If I come across any half naked firemen or cowboys in my scraps, they won't go in the baby quilts either. Even chopped up into the itty-bitty pieces Bonnie Hunter recommends, I couldn't in good conscience put those in a baby quilt.
But Shrek's not half bad once he's quilted to a nice top.
What's the most exciting backing fabric you've used lately?

Hello Michelle,
There are some truly awful fabrics about. Well done for using up or passing on what you aren't keen on. Sometimes the truly awful stuff comes in handy for hanging strips or binding.
Love,
Muv
