It's been a busy week!

I've had a bit of time to play this week, enough to start a new project that I'll show you tomorrow and to make a batch of Candy Bacon with this recipe I found at Wrinky Mommy. I loved it, but the rest of the family wasn't so sure.

We replaced that $30 washer we bought on Craigslist with a newer-but-still-old one. A valve had finally failed and if I wanted to do a load of laundry I had to watch for the spin cycle to end and turn the water off at the pipes or it would refill and overflow. Which is obnoxious, but not as obnoxious as loading up clothes and kids for a trip the Laundromat.

I loved that old yellow washer, but with the amount of laundry I do, I'm tickled pink that it lasted almost two years. That's longer than the brand new high-end Whirlpool went without giving me trouble.

I even got some knitting done.

Found your blog from Patchwork Times! My washer overflowed a couple of months ago too. We had to get the whole floor replaced and it was such a nuisance. But now we have pretty new floors and a new-but-old washing machine too. Looking forward to reading more of your posts.

I have a lovely expensive high efficency washer. That has been nothign buy a headache and keeps tearing up every since I bought it 2 years ago new from Lowes. Never again will I buy this type washer. i have announced to hubby that when it dies for the final time which is gonna be any day now I predict. I will be replaceing it with the normal old fashioned kind...You know the good old kind you can actually soak laundry in over night or for a hour or more. My whites look dingy every since I boght that washer. Although I do use oxy in every load they still looked dingy now I use bakeing soda in the laudnry and it has helped alot. It doesn;t use enough water to truely clean the laundry to my satisfaction
