With Little Letters, I was making up the pieced borders in my head and had no idea how many pieces I'd actually wind up using. I wound up with a little pile of nine-patch bits. It was hardly any fabric at all, and even I could have tossed it out without feeling a pang of guilt.
But my mind doesn't work that way. I sewed them together and within the hour, I had a new mug rug.
Sure, I could have tossed those bits. But it feels a lot better to make something cute with them!
What do you do with your leftovers? Toss them, or make them into something.....or save them for "someday?"

Very cute! Mine usually just go into a big pile for a "someday" orphan block quilt. I have everything from orphan blocks to odd and end 4 patches.

This year I'm going to just make scrap quilts (as much as I can go without buying fabric). I like to use the little left over bits in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2015 at So Scrappy blog. I like to put orphan blocks on the back of quilts. Use 'em up!
I don't throw out any fabric that is at least 1 1/2" square. I save them in a drawer by size to use in future scrap quilts - aka Bonnie Hunter style scrap savers technique.
If I am in love with the fabrics I will make another project eg a pillow or bag, or else it all just goes in the stash (if big enough pieces) or into the scrap bin.
