We bought our 2005 Chevy Suburban a couple of years ago. It was comfortable and had great seat warmers. It got us safely over Engineer Pass in Colorado and up the Shafer trail in Moab.
And this is what it looked like Monday night after an oncoming car crossed the center line...
Now I love that Suburban. Because I'm pretty sure it saved my hubby's life. At the very least, it protected him from worse injuries. It took an hour for them to pry the doors open and get him loaded into the ambulance. He left the emergency room on crutches and we're not sure how long he's going to be off his feet, but it could have been so much worse.

Oh my goodness you are so right, it could have been so much worse and I'm so glad that you can report that it is not. I know that was a BIG scare and I hope that his recovery is swift and uneventful. This really will be a happy Christmas.
So glad things turned out so well. I have driven a suburban for 30 years and love them. They are comfortable but most of all, safe.
Glad it turned out okay for him. I drove an Explorer (under duress). We were hit by someone that ran a stop light. Totaled the Explorer and none of us were hurt. At my husband's insistence we bought another three days later. So, the woman that never wanted an SUV has been driving one for 10 years now. Physics is on their side in most accidents.
Oh no! So glad that he was relatively unhurt.

Very glad your husband is OK. Rough week in Oregon for crashes. We had a lot up her in Portland and in Vancouver with the ice. I have been wanting a larger vehicle but my commute is so long that I have gone with fuel economy. Maybe I should rethink that.
So glad things weren't any worse! Once the shock wears off the suburban can be replaced. I'm also rethinking my decision not to get an SUV.

So glad he wasn't badly injured. I have been driving an suv for almost 2 yrs. The only problem I have is that I am short and it can be challenging to get in it. I drove low down cars before and had a friend with the same make and model who put a deer through the windshield when she hit it. Convinced me to get something bigger.
so glad he's okay.... ouch. i'm fresh from a triple rollover in a full size truck that saved my life, so i'm empathic!
