Why Not Hocuspocusville?

A couple of times, I've started to wonder if I should spend the time that I'm putting into these blocks making progress on Hocuspocusville. But I've decided that there are a couple of very good justifications for plunging into a new project.

First, I really love the quilt that inspired this project. The more time I spend sorting through vintage patterns and deciding which ones I want to use, the more I become convinced that I'm absolutely going to love my own quilt.

Second, I don't have to worry about these blocks. If I make a bad color choice or my stitches get too wobbly or I carry a float too far across the back and decide that I can't live with it, I can leave that block out. If I decide that one of the Hocuspocusville blocks isn't good enough, I'll have to retrace and restitch the entire thing. I don't think I've got the patience for that.

This project is fun. It's low stress. And I've needed that over the past few months. Once we get into October, I'm sure I'll pull the Hocuspocusville blocks out and stitch on them for a while, but there's no reason I can't play with both.  (I'm pretty sure I may be starting this embroidered Halloween quilt too.)

I'm linking up with Judy at Patchwork Times and Too Cute Tuesday.

I had a halloween quilt I only worked on a few weeks before Halloween each year - finally finished it in time for this year!

Halloween quilts are so much fun. And, I do like the hand embroidered blocks. I have two quilts made for my children when they were babies. My cousin made them using patterns from our grandmother. I enjoy having them and bringing them out for the grands to use.
