I'm kind of proud of myself. I used up a lot of old stash yarn and, sooner or later, I'm going to find something I really want and do some shopping and I'm not going to feel one bit guilty. Because building up my yarn stash meant that I could spend most of last year knitting from it.
What's really getting to me is the siren call of the books. Especially the ones with pretty socks and shawls. I did, just barely, resist the 40% off sale at Knit Picks.
And then I glanced at the Aunt Martha's patterns at Walmart, convinced myself that I had the one I loved at home, didn't have it at home, and made the rounds of five different stores trying to find it again. In the process, I found seven more patterns that I hadn't come across in my year of stalking the hot iron transfers at Walmart. But I still haven't found the mermaids, so I'll keep checking every time I buy groceries.

You have great numbers. I don't know that I'll ever use all the stash yarn I have. I did just send a bunch to Goodwill, but I still have a large container full. Have a great week!
Too funny about stalking the Aunt Martha iron on section. I do too, and I have been looking for the mystic mermaids for quite awhile, as well. Last week I finally found one left at Joann's and I was so excited to get home and open them up. Well, when I opened the package, lo and behold there was an entirely different pattern inside, (hearts and flowers)! I contacted the company and they sent out a replacement so I will be excited to get that envelope in the post. I haven never had that happen before and I have bought a LOT of the Aunt Martha's patterns before.
Congratulations on using up so much of your yarn stash! I made myself stop buying so much yarn and really knit from what I have and it feels good to do that and of course there is room for new yarn now!
