Have you tried chenille? It's been on my to-do list for almost eight years, ever since I got the chance to snuggle up under one at a quilt show. I can't remember the name of the vendor's business -- she was selling custom quilt racks and overheard me saying I'd have to go back to the car for a blanket to nurse the baby under...and the next thing I knew, I was sitting in her booth, nursing my little guy under one of the snuggliest quilts ever. I've always been grateful to that woman, and a little surprised that she was willing to trust me and my little one with her quilt. Babies, as much as we adore them, do tend to leak at exactly the wrong time.
And while I was feeding the baby, she told me how to make the quilt. Her quilts were big throws, and I'd forgotten how much I wanted to make one myself until I stumbled across Pamela Lincoln's Chenille Baby Blanket Tutorial over at the Moda Bake Shop.
Anneliese at Aesthetic Nest has a tutorial for a Chevron Chenille baby Blanket. When I first saw the picture, I assume that it was pieced but the chevrons are printed on the fabric.
Michelle Jensen at With All my Heart has instructions for making chenille with an echo quilted floral design.
I've just remembered where I've got a big piece of flannel I could use...
Have you made a chenille quilt? Got any tips for me?
Let's Make Baby Quilts Linky Party Rules:
Link directly to your post or specific Flickr photo. Your post can be about a baby quilt that's finished, or in progress, or you can be writing about what you have planned, but it's got to be about baby quilts. While we're still gathering steam, you're welcome to link to baby quilt posts that aren't brand new, but please don't submit the same post or picture more than once. I'd love it if you linked back to my site, either with a text link or the Let's Make Baby Quilts! button.
