A little UFO to cross off the list...

Actually, I'm not sure this one was even on my UFO list, but it's quilted and bound now.

Remember Jo's Quilt Square Quilt Along? I pieced this block but never got around to finishing it until earlier this week. As I've been going through the sewing room, I've unearthed all kinds of forgotten things.

Quilt Square Quilt Along

If I want to order the next pattern for the quilt along, I've got to finish my squares on time. That's my deal with myself. And even though Jo was nice enough to give us four extra days, I stuck with my own rules..

There are only fifteen different fabrics in this one. Compared to last month, this was EASY. Laying out the stars is easy enough, but sewing the rows together right is a bit of a puzzle, and probably not something to do when a teenage girl is gushing about the cool Disney pictures she just found on Pinterest. They were really neat Disney princess picture, but still...it's a miracle I don't sew my own finger more often!

checking in with my NewFO and my quilt along square

When Jo posted the patterns for the Quilt Square Quilt Along, I only ordered the first one. If I didn't keep up, I wasn't going to let myself buy the rest. I tend to start these quilt alongs with good intentions, and then I fall behind, and then I move on to something else entirely...

It was a good strategy. I only got this month's block done in time because I really want the rest of the patterns for the year.

I had to take a second picture with something in it beside the quilt just to show you how TINY those triangles are! And there are so many of them.... I wound up scavenging pieces that I'd already cut for two other projects, then cutting them down to size. There are some bits of my drab postage stamp pieces in here, and some bits of my spiral log cabin. But that's okay -- I had extra for the postage stamps and needed to cut more log cabin strips anyway.

Head over to Jo's Country Junction to see everyone else's finished blocks. I can't believe she did this one twice!

My NewFO for February is the drab postage stamp quilt. You can read how I got started on this one in this post.

After making the two drab lap quilts, I wanted a big one for me to snuggle up under. This project is perfect for mindless piecing. And for using up fabric that didn't play nicely with the rest of my stash.

Now that I've got the pieces cut for my March NewFO, I want to work on them both. And I've got a whole list of projects I want to get done in March. There might not be enough days in the months for it all!

thirty eight fabrics in one little quilt

I dragged my feet when it was time to start this little quilt, but once I got going I really fell in love it with. Thirty-eight fabrics in a twelve inch square? Little half inch finished strips? What's not to love about that?

Now that its time to quilt it, I'm dragging my feet again. I don't know what I want to do. Meander? Stitch in the ditch? Or maybe try out hand quilting? I've been planning to try that and this is such a little quilt it should be manageable. If I don't like my results, I can always pick it out and do it again my machine, right?

Hop over to the Quilt Square Quilt Along Linky Party at Jo's Country Junction to see how the rest of the little quilts came out.

Nothing really new going on with my design wall this week. I keep going back to UFOs -- not a bad thing, but I'm going to have to scoot to start a NewFO for the linky party over at Cat Patches tomorrow.
