Last week, Teenage Daughter saw a rack of dollar clothes outside one of her favorite resale shops. Parallel parking the mini van is not one of my favorite things, so I circled the block and parked on one of the side streets. It's still parallel parking, but at least there aren't other cars to squeeze in between.
We wound up parking next to a thrift store that I'd never noticed before. Unfortunately, all of the most interesting stuff is in those display windows.
The building itself is interesting. Behind the cash register is an old bank vault that they're using as a storage room, but I couldn't get a picture of that without explaining what I was doing.
Teenage Daughter was still shopping, so we visited the antique store around the corner. I've been in there a handful of times, looking for Nancy Drew books. If I'd been interested in the Hardy Boys, I'd have hit the jackpot this afternoon, but there wasn't a Nancy in sight.
In a dark corner I hadn't even noticed, Teenage Daughter found this piece of furniture. I'm not sure if it qualifies as Art Nouveau, but it's definitely what I pictured filling the house in A White Room. It was wedged in behind other things, but we're thinking it was a hall tree.
If I'd had extra money to spend, I would have been seriously tempted to bring this little darling home. Isn't she adorable? I wonder if that's a hidden mother behind her....that baby looks so happy that it's easy to believe she's in her mother's arms.
I love browsing antique stores and this is one of the neatest one's I've found, even if those narrow aisles and all of that glass makes me nervous.
oh fun antiques. I haven't been antiquing in ages!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great place to find treasures. Love the detail on the wood furniture.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to shop vintage places, my FAVORITE. That is a darling frame and baby. I have a vintage photo today too but it is a family member.

ReplyDeleteI love strolling through antiques stores. Love the vintage picture. I loved Nancy Drew books when I was a young girl. I appreciate you sharing with Share Your Cup. I'm sure it's not intentional, but I don't see a link back to the party. Now following you.
