I had plans for the sewing I wanted to get done over the weekend, then the low grade migraine started...and the nausea... As I type this, I'm on day three and I've already taken more Advil (2 doses) than I technically should have. That stuff works great...and then it wears off and somehow that's worse, knowing that I've used up my eight or so hours of pain free time.
So that pretty zipper bag didn't get cut out and the straight line quilting didn't get done and neither did my next Be My Neighbor block. Before my quilting time ran out, I was feeling just better enough to cut and trim the half square triangles that I've done as leaders and enders with the other house blocks.
Something is better than nothing, right?
Sorry to hear about your migraine. So many of us can relate. I've heard so many different ways to get rid of them, as I'm sure you have. The one that always works for me is going to bed covering up my head with the blankets and taking a nap. For some reason the build up of carbon monoxide gets rid of the migraine. Take care, hope you get to feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteMy migraine treatment is 2 Ibuprofen, a bit of caffeine (coffee w/milk and sugar), and a nap in a dark room. Before the nap, I let my husband know it's migraine time and he needs to take care of anything that needs taking care of. I also bring a big thermos of ice water with me on my nap -- hydration helps!
ReplyDeleteAfter my nap, I treat myself carefully to avoid the migraine coming back in full force. I try to do as little as possible when a migraine hits. But I've never had the misfortune to have a 3-day migraine!
I do have to say that once I had to give up gluten (due to celiac disease), my migraines became way less frequent and switched to "silent" migraines -- some aura and nausea, but no real pain -- which is obviously a much better migraine. I wouldn't suggest giving up gluten without being tested first for celiac disease, but after that, it might be something to consider since your migraines are such long-term things!
Hang in there!
Oh Michelle - I know the feeling. I really feel for you. So glad you got a little bit of sewing/trimming done. Hope you are feeling better soon!
