The Here and Now
Prenna James moved to New York with her mother when she was twelve. In the five years since then, she's been careful to obey the rules of her tight knit community. They must never reveal where they are from or become intimate with anyone outside their group. Those who violate the rules suffer harsh consequences.
Did I forget to mention that Prenna and the others came from the future, a ruined world where mosquito-borne illness has killed most of the population?
I seriously loved The Here and Now by Ann Brashares. It's creepy and suspenseful with a sweet romance element. The future is revealed in tantalizing little glimpses -- I'd love to read more about it in a different book.
Disclosure -- the publishers provided me with an electronic review copy of the book.
