I've got a few vintage toys that live up in the sewing room. Unlike the ones I kept up there for entertaining my babies on their rare visits, these are mine.
Why did they ever switch from wind up toys to batteries?
The Ferris wheel actually belonged to my younger sister and I'm guessing, since it's older than I am, that it's one of my Mom's thrift store finds. We had some of the coolest old toys! The weighted chiming bird was Alex's, although I don't think she ever actually played with it. But we all know that those infant toys are more for Mommy's entertainment, don't we? Have you saved baby toys for yourself?

I love the old toys too. The wind up ones were so much better than the battery operated ones.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I do have a box of toys upstairs - ostensibly for the children when they visit. But it occurs to me that they haven't played with them in quite a while, and I continue to keep them. Maybe they are for me after all :*) I know there are a couple I will never let go of, mostly because of the memories of children and grandchildren playing with them.
ReplyDeleteMy mom still has a lot of our old Fisher Price Little People toys including that ferris wheel. We had the dollhouse, airport, farm, schoolhouse, and merry-go-round. Most of them are in rough shape, having gone through 8 kids and 13 grandkids.
ReplyDeleteNo matter what our age, there are just somethings that are yours alone.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I love old toys. You have a great collection!

How sweet are those! No, I didn't save any toys - my boys do still have all of their lego's though, drawers and drawers of them. Even now that they're grown, they still pull them out once in awhile. I just wish I still had my Golden Books that I used to read to my little brother....
ReplyDeleteI remember that Ferris wheel! We always used to joke about the grumpy boy who had to turn it. Fisher Price Little People were the best before they made them child-safe! I also loved the castle, the airport, the school bus...
ReplyDeleteI don't, but I think I'll start, the kids rarely appreciate them as much as me, particularly the ones that don't make a lot of noise and aren't battery powered.
ReplyDeleteIs that ever cute! I think you could put bobbins in the seats!
