What I'm Working On ... a Week Later

The pile of projects I showed you last week is mostly done. The cherries are stitched. The fabric and zipper have been sewn into a bag.  I've embroidered most of the lady's fancy dress.

And I'm making good progress on the pieced blocks for the black and white appliances. Trimming those embroidered blocks down to size feels me with dread, but tomorrow I'm going to have to take a deep breath and double check my measurements and do it.

I can totally relate to the feeling of dread. I have a project that needs to get finished but doesn't because of the same feeling.

Sometimes you just have to put on your "big girl panties" and just do it. Whenever I avoid a task, my mom would tell me this. Now my daughters and granddaughter tell me the same thing. LOL

Love your plan for the black and white. Bet it will be a cute finish!

I know that feeling... and I have cut wrong. The good news is in sewing there's always a way to fix it. Those just look so cool. The strong contrast makes it very graphic. I spent time paper piecing vintage items this weekend! LeeAnna

Fabric is so much less forgiving than yarn. :) At least when I "undo" my knitting, I can still use it! What about using one of those disappearing markers to mark where you intend to cut? Then, if you've made a mistake it will eventually fade. If you like where you've centered everything, it may make the cutting less scary.

Those appliances are rockin'! Measure twice, cut once.

I love doing the one color hand embroidery. I'm doing family snowmen my kids and grands did over Christmas. I'm really enjoying it. Love your appliances. Good luck with the cutting.
