Thrift Store Temptations

I didn't buy anything at the thrift store this week. I admired this stereo, which has been moving around the store for the past month.

It's pretty, and fascinates me, but it wouldn't fit with my house or my family. And it's expensive! Hopefully it's worth what they're asking and the right person will find it.

I'm fascinated by these folding rocking chairs. One of these days, I'll find one at the right price. Or not. I don't know why rocking chairs need to fold, so I did a quick Google search. According to what I read, it was so they could hang it on the side of the covered wagon, or women used them at their treadle sewing machines, or undertakers brought them when wakes were being held in homes....

And then there was this, the real temptation. I didn't bring it home. I didn't even give in to the temptation to plug it in... but it's blue and pretty and the price was right...

That sewing machine is most likely a plastic geared ready for repairs model. I could not see the model # but I think it would be a stylist # something. Before buying older sewing machines it's good to do a bit of research, Singer made some get model sewing machines up until the 1960-1970's after that junk
But they made hundreds well thousands of great sewing machine models prior to that so its pretty easy to find a great old singer but you have to know which are the later hunk of junk plastic guts machines

I honestly wouldn't even care if that pretty little machine worked or not. I have grand plans to paint my sewing room aqua with red accents. She would be just perfect in there!!!!

I have that exact stereo! It is a 1960 model, just like me. How much did they want for it? Thanks, Lynn
