I love little pieces

Quilts with little pieces make my heart go pitty-pat. Most of my quilts are made up of 2 1/2" squares, and sometimes I start to wonder if those aren't just a little too big. Usually, I convince myself that 2 1/2" is a perfectly reasonable size, especially for baby quilts that I'm giving to someone else's baby. But I will do a postage stamp quilt for myself with much smaller pieces one of these days. And a Lego Quilt.

The first step for Orca Bay is right up my alley. I hadn't done many hourglass blocks before. And I hadn't used this ruler. But I'm loving the technique and I'm using some of my favorite neutrals. Bonnie said to use up the icky stuff, but it only takes a 1 1/2" strip of each print and I plan on keeping this, so I'm using fabrics I love. Now that I think of it, I'm not sure if I even have any neutrals I don't love.

This post is linked to Design Wall Monday at Patchwork Times and Bonnie's Orca Bay Linky Party at Quiltville.

I'm attacking Orca Bay too--my 1st Bonnie Hunter. I'm using greens, pinks and purples and have all but 30 of my QSTs done--about 8 hours work! I use a different method for the QSTs as I hate sewing triangles together.

I knew instantly that you had fallen into Orca Bay! Me too! I've cut all the patches but have only sewn 5 or six hourglasses so far.

I also love the neutrals that you have used. I am doing Orca Bay, it is the first time to do one of Bonnie's Mysteries.

I am sewing this mystery and it is my first time using the ruler too. I think it is a good idea to use your favorite fabrics!

Those are great neutrals. Great work on step one so far. I wonder what the future holds?

Your blocks look really nice. I agree; why waste time sewing with icky fabric? Use the nice fabric and be happy!

Wow! You do have some lovely neutrals! I've said this several times now; I'm 'quilting' this mystery vicariously through all you all who are taking it on. I'm saving the instructions and leaning back and enjoying "watching" the ride! :)

I'm looking at some of the links posted on Bonnie's page and it's fun to see what others are doing and how they are progressing. You've done a great job :)

Beautiful! I can't wait to see all these Orca Bays progress. Hopefully I'll get fired up enough to start my own soon... LoL

I just saw this photo and I said they look like my squares, it must be Orca.
Lots of work but well worth it.
